Bulgaria

In jurul orei 22:30 am ajuns si in micutul, dar simpaticul Balchik si am pornit in cautarea hotelului.

Hello, hello!!! Today I decided to write something and when I entered I was surprised to see that my last article was written on 3rd of July. Shame on me! But I have excuses and I am not afraid to use them:)

This summer many things happened in my life: the new job, I moved to Bucharest, the city of which I was so afraid up to not long ago, I needed to adapt again to a limited time spent with Marius…many things, but hopefully all these sacrifices will bring us many benefits.

In viata personala, m-am bucurat de timp frumos petrecut cu Marius, atat in tara cat si in strainatate.

I was in an adapting period at my work place and I felt super tired in the first month, but slowly everything became better. In our personal life, we enjoyed nice time spent together, in Romania but outside as well. Well yes, this is what I am going to talk about today.

We wanted so bad to go to Greece as we heard many beautiful things about this country. And yes, it is a beautiful country, with warm and positive people, with history and good food. However, our experience was not the best.

We decided to go to Athens, in order to visit as many objectives as possible and we even thought that we will run short on time. Well, an advice: If you want to visit Athens, do not plan an entire holiday there, but reserve one day to pass by, it is enough!

Public transport, pretty modern, but is better in Bucharest. When it comes to prices, I can tell you that Marius and I bought 72 hours passes with 22 euro/person. We had the possibility to take any of the public means, limitless and the transfer from and to the airport was included (is 1 hour far away from Athens).

The accommodation was good, we paid for 3 nights 150 euro, breakfast included. The hotel we stayed at is called Exarchion, has 3 stars and is very close to Omonia metro station. We recommended to those who aren’t too picky and for those who are going in holidays to have fun and explore, not for those going to sleep.

And as I mentioned the metro station, I should mention that all the negative karma related to this holiday started here: While climbing the stairs (the normal ones, not the automatic ones because we are active), someone tried to steal my phone. Lucky that my hero husby caught the guy while his hand was on my purse. I did not feel anything as I was moving. What could we do? No police, nobody reacted…They did not get it, but still for us it was a turning point.

We visited everything we could when it comes to history monuments and museums in one day and we still had time for a swim:) If you plan to visit monuments, museums and other famous places in Athens, you can buy at Acropolis entrance a combo ticket – 30 euro and you will be able to visit many many places without paying any other fee. This is a plus for Athens and for tourism.

My favourite place is still Monastiraki, the centre, as it made me feel good, relaxed, it had many lights, cute music and the noise of those asking you to buy souvenirs from them. Of course, Marius bought several scarfs for his collection (football team scarfs) with no less than 4 pieces. Ok, I admit, I also bought magnets 🙂

In Atena chiar merita!

The food is not too expensive and is very good. Another recommendation that I would do is related to the tourist buses tours. In Athens it is really worth! We bought the full pack, with 25 euro for 2 days. The best part is that in this amount you can benefit and have a free guided tour of the city, you can go to Pireus, but also outside of city, approx. 30 km along the seaside. The bus stops at every beach and as you get far away from the centre, everything becomes more beautiful.

The last stop is at Vouliagmeni Lake, a great place. Here we decided to spend the beach day. The entrance fee to the lake is 12 euro/person, but we choose to stay by the sea.

Numai ca, vedeti voi, ghinionul nu ne-a parasit: Marius s-a intepat intr-un arici de mare si spinii i-au ramas in degetel copilului (bine ca nu e alergic) si i s-a stricat si telefonul, brusc si dintr-o data. Ce sa iti mai doresti? Sa te intorci acasa, asta iti doresti!

You see, the bad luck did not leave us at all: Marius stepped into a sea hedgehog and the needles left in my babies toe (lucky us that he is not allergic) and then his phone got broken, suddenly, without doing anything to it. What can you wish more for? To go back home!

We returned, but you think the story is over, if at the arrival the front door of the plane did not open, anticipating what was about to happen, at the departure our plane was delayed. Poor Marius was wondering: ”What else could happen?” and I have forbidden him to ask this questions before we land:))

But hey, I was lucky enough to have the chance to write this article:) All in all I do not regret that we had these experiences. Certainly I learnt how important is to be patient and enjoy your time with people, not the things you have.

Noutati despre viata noastra / Updates about our lives

Three weeks ago I moved to Bucharest. Why? Because I accepted a job that was matching the profile I was looking for. If you wonder, yes, I like what I do and I am glad I decided to take this step, but this is not about what I am going to tell you today.

I want to tell you several things about life in Bucharest. Well yes, life in Bucharest is pretty different from the one we are observing in small towns. But I am doing well, I think. I do not have problems with the transportation means, I have good orientation skills and I can manage many things by myself.

Deh, in week-end avem hubby-wife time:) Se pare ca aceasta este o parte definitorie a relatiei noastre.

Recently, I checked on my experiences list, a travel by train to Brasov. You see, during week-ends we have some hubby-wife time:) It seems this is a defining part of our relationship. But we work well like this. We are more in love, we want to spend much more time together.

So yes guys, we will start a Bucharest Diary…let’s see how is life in the capital city for an undetermined period…

Casieri sau clienti care ne enerveaza / Cashiers or customers playing with our nerves

Este in natura omeneasca sa ne enervam. Repede si din orice majoritatea. Merita? E corect?

It is a human characteristic to get angry. Quickly and for any reason, the majority. Is it worthy? Is it fair?

Or avea motive?

There are several domain in which these kind of things happen often and there are categories of people described as annoying and bad-tempered. And here we can surely mention public workers, cashiers or commercial workers. But why do they act so? Do they have any reasons?

According to my theory, they do. Not all the customers are polite, understanding and patient, as not all those reminded in the categories above mentioned are positive models. But, please let’s don’t forget that sometime, we as clients take too serious the saying ”Our customer, our commander”. I do not think is fair to behave badly or to act like we are superior to those who serve us just because we are paying some money in those places. Yes, we pay some money but we get something in exchange. And them, as we do, are working to pay for their living.

Usually, customers or citizens that need the services of a public worker have the tendency to blame them and ask them explanations for everything they do not agree with or is not as it is supposed to be, even if it is according to some pre-established rules. When we aren’t satisfied we react towards the first person we see and this isn’t always fair.

That is why I consider that some cashiers or public workers are trying to rush you up considering that you will anyway blame them for something or you will question them about the goods that aren’t presented as you expected or about the laws of the Romanian State that are according to you shitty. And then, what do they have to lose?

I want to mention that I agree upon the fact that not all the people are gifted enough to work with the public, but is not on us to decide as customers or citizens if they should do it or not. This, if you aren’t the super claimer type, or a person that does not give a second chance to a person and you will complain a lot about a certain behavior.

All of us, we should learn to treat even human being as an unique entity and not to judge them for facts that they did not do. We, but also those behind the desk or counter, we should have more patience, respect each other more and smile often. Amiability does not cost.

Are ea vreo vina?

I just wanted to share my thoughts related to the subject after my sister told me about some things that happened to her at work, threatening and other unimportant things, as she acted according to the internal regulation. Does she have any fault? No, but maybe me or you, once we mistreated people that were actually helping us even if it was not their responsibility…

Sa fim mai buni!

Let’s be better persons!

Tinerete in actiune / Youth in action / Jeunesse en action

In acest timp am scotocit in locul unde avem noi amintirile adunate, un garaj, care nu a fost folosit de peste 15 ani in acest scop, devenit intre timp camera pentru amintiri.

We took advantage of the short holiday and we spent some lovely days in Reghin, with my family. During this time we looked into the place where our memories are gathered, a garage, which has not been used with this purpose for more than 15 years and it became meanwhile room for memories.

Enough with the indications, let’s get to the subject. I found the CD that we received from the very nice Davy, the coordinator of a beautiful action, part of an European project that I was part of in 2008.

It was funny and pleasant in the same time to watch the videos taken then with my husband. We laughed together when looking at my teenager face, we laughed about the way I used to dress and about the funny faces I was making.

At the end he told me he is proud of me and my participation in these kind of project even in my ”youth”. The truth is I am also proud! I had so many beautiful experiences, I met so many wonderful people and I created lifetime memories!

Am petrecut impreuna aproximativ 10 zile, in minunatul orasel Feyzin, de langa Lyon, in Franta.

To make a summary about the project, I will mention that we were 4 groups of teenagers from Romania, Portugal, Germany and France. We spent together approx. 10 days, in the beautiful city of Feyzin, next to Lyon, in France. Our ”job” was to prepare a show in which by using the music, the dance and a little bit of acting, we had to get involved in each group’s moment, in order to underline the idea of tolerance and unity! I think we were very successful!

Every time I think about those moments I smile, because every experience similar to this one helped me evolve and shape my character! I will let the pictures ”tell” you more about what we lived in France!

Un an de cand am plecat din Turcia / An year passed since I left Turkey

A trecut repede? Da, foarte repede. Anul acesta a fost poate cel mai intens si cel mai surprinzator an din viata mea, anul in care m-am redescoperit si am invatat multe despre oameni si viata.

An year passed already since I left Turkey. Did it pass fast? Yes, very fast. This year was maybe the most intense and surprising year of my life, the year during which I rediscovered myself and I learnt many things about people and life.

Imi lipseste Turcia?

Do I miss Turkey? Yes, I miss it sometimes, but this happens mostly because of the pleasant experiences I had there and because of the country in relation with geographical aspects. Although, I can tell that I miss badly some people.

I learnt many things in Turkey and everything I lived there is for sure the most special period of my single person life, up to the moment I started my own family, with my husband. In Turkey I cried the most, I laughed even more, I was disappointed, I was appreciated, I met people with all their pleasant and less pleasant characteristics and I lived something different.

Turkey is not as they show it at TV. Turkey is more profound than that. You need patience, widely open eyes and power to stay still even when you do not agree with some things that are happening.

Turcia e frumoasa, e deosebita, e a doua mea casa.

Turkey is beautiful, is special, is my second home.

The following pictures will tell more about the things I lived there.

Turkiye seni tum kalbimden seviyorum!

Sibiu sau un oras frumos al Transilvaniei / Sibiu or a beautiful city of Transylvania

Two week-ends ago, me and my husband had a romantic city-break in Sibiu. After a week of being at distance because I had things to solve in Reghin, my home city, we decided to meet full of missing feelings in Sibiu.

Am profitat de ocazie si am trecut si pe la facultate (Am terminat Masterul in cadrul Facultatii de Drept Simion Barnutiu, Universitatea Lucian Blaga) si m-am odihnit la super guesthouse-ul rezervat de noi in asteptarea sotului.

I took advantage of this opportunity and I went to the faculty (I accomplished my Master at Simion Barnutiu Faculty of Law, Lucian Blaga University) and I rested at the super guesthouse we reserved while waiting for my husband.

Speaking about the Guesthouse, I would like to state that when we decided about the accommodation while traveling we take in consideration criteria as the cleaning, the distance and the price. So, knowing that we are going to walk around all day long, we did not need some very special conditions in terms of accommodation. For the chosen Guesthouse we paid 200 lei (100 lei/night) and we were very happy with it. Our room was part of a house designed in a manner that would allow you to enjoy the comfort without disturbing anybody else. We had a room with nice furniture, a personal bathroom and a common kitchen (shared with 2 other apartments) fully equipped (there was even a washing machine). We recommend Guesthouse Adela as we were truly satisfied with it.

We visited many beautiful places in Sibiu and we tried products in various bistros and restaurants. Friday for example, we had dinner at Weidner restaurant. The prices were good considering that the city is full of tourists, but the food wasn’t the best. Although, the serving part was perfect even if there was only one!!! waiter. We walked a bit around the center, we listened to some jazz as the festival was taking place in that week-end and we promised that the second day we will enjoy more.

Saturday was a full day, our phones showing us that we walked no less than 23 km:) We began by visiting the Council Tower. From time to time there are expositions organized there, it presents layouts of the city and the last floor will give you the chance to admire beautiful views. The price for visiting the tower is only 2 lei. We continued by visiting the Museum of Pharmacy. Obviously, it was not very well indicated on the touristic map we had and it was even harder for us as the Jazz festival took place in front of the building were the museum is and all the clues were hidden. We found it, it was cute. The visiting price is 10 lei and it is worth to visit it if you like ancient objects, small and colorful bottles and you want to find out more about the treatments made with mummy powder. You can find out more here.

While we were looking for the Pharmacy Museum, we discovered an ancient monastery, now church, called the Ursuline Church. Very beautiful, but unfortunately we could not take photos as there was a wedding ceremony 🙂

Then, we visited the Museum of History. This one is a bit more expensive to visit, it costs 20 lei for the museum and extra 6 lei for the Treasury. We chose to see only the museum. This is split in different categories, is very interesting, pretty large and is worth to be visited of course.

Walking on the streets, we saw also the Ardeal Orthodox Archbishopric but also the Museum of the Lutheran Church and of the Saxons of Transylvania. I did not expected to be so nicely surprised by this museum. Many objects, lot of interesting information. The price for visiting it is 8 lei, but we were lucky and we saw it for free.

We walked in the park, we enjoyed the sun, up to the moment when it began to rain. So, we decided to enjoy a cappuccino at Pardon Bistro. The prices were good, as everywhere, a cappuccino having the price of 7 lei. The place is very well decorated and this makes you feel great. I even saw the chef coming and asking people around if the food is good, thing I have seen before only in France.

Muzeul este foarte frumos si are mare potential.

Then, we crossed the street, to the Museum of Natural History. The normal visiting price is 13 lei, but me and Marius got a 2 lei/person discount because the man selling tickets loved us. The museum is very nice and it has a huge potential. I even compared it with Antipa Museum from Bucharest. This one is smaller, but very well organized. Obviously I was charmed by the dinosaurs from the yard.

As the week-end during which we visited Sibiu followed after the Museum Night event, we had the chance to see the Museum of Art for free. Usually the price is 20 lei for the European Art Gallery and 12 lei for the Romanian Art Gallery. If you are passionate about paintings, we recommend this museum.

All the sections named above are actually parts of the Brukenthal Museum. This has also other section excepting the one we visited and these are: Museum of Hunting, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Restoration-Conservation Laboratory, each with its own price. What I really liked was the fact that for 45 lei you can by a special ticket that will give you access to all the museum’s sections. We could not visit them all, that is why we chose to pay separately for each.

Merita!

We managed to see the Lutheran Cathedral, which is very beautiful, but we really liked was the fact that we managed to climb into the tower with a height of 73 meters. The view is spectacular!!! The price for visiting is 5 lei for the Church and 3 lei more if you want to climb into the tower. Is worth to do it!

Am cinat intr-o crama, foarte frumos amenajata, Chez Annemarie Bistro.

We had dinner in a wine cellar, very beautiful decorated, Chez Annemarie Bistro. Unfortunately I could not find a website or a Facebook page in order to offer you more information about the place. Anyways, you can find it while crossing the Stairs Passage.

Then we went to the Jazz Festival. It was a spectacular evening! We had the opportunity to listen to best quality music, international groups and we felt in love forever with De la Purissima group, whose CD we also bought. We drank coffee for free and we received a t-shirt just because Marius bought a pack of cigarettes and it was painted according to our desires by an artist collaborating with the festival.

Because of the fact that we were in hurry and afraid that the rain will begin again, when leaving the festival we bought bus tickets that we never used, because the bus was not coming anymore at that hour so we walked to our accommodation:) We offered the tickets the following day to a girl from KFC Drive as she was so nice to us.

On Saturday, we visited the ZOO, which is not very big, but it’s beautiful especially for the nearby lake. The price for visiting is only 3 lei. From there we went to Cisnadie, a place close to Sibiu where we saw the Lutheran Church and the citadel surrounding it. Wonderful!!! The price for visiting it is 7 lei, but is worthy. And what if I tell you that the center is open only for the pedestrians and it gives you the felling of being in another world?

The only thing that we were not impressed by in Sibiu was the shopping center, but it does not matter as clothes and shoes can be found everywhere. The city and what it offers is impressive enough!!!
